Wife had weird reaction years ago...

Ok, here's the basic situation. My wife tells me that years and years ago (back way before we met, when she was in college) she tried birth control pills, and she had a weird reaction to them. She didn't say what brand, dosage, or whatever, but that would have been the late 1980's or early1990's.

I'm assuming that formulas have changed since then.

Well, when we got married, we stopped using condoms until our son was born. We were married in May, and my wife was pregnant in August. Then, we didn't start using condoms again until after he was born. I've gently mentioned that I've thought about a vasectomy, but she shot that idea down.

Because of her bad experience when she was younger, she refuses to even TRY newer birth control pills. She's in her early 50's, and we think in perimenopause. I think it'll help, but she won't even consider it.

Thoughts or suggestions?
