Ferritin

Just got my 6month labs and my ferritin dropped from 58 to 16!!  My iron is 85 which is good, but am concerned that the ferritin is too low too fast??

Im back on the iron infusions....regular part of my life again!!  First infusion day I had reaction to ferrlicit so transferred to the high risk infusion room and now on venofer.  Two more to go...lets hope it lasts longer than a year!!!

Hi!  No I have not found the reason.  Recently my ferritin has dropped from 59 to 16 then to 6.5 in the last few months!!  Looks like infusion time again:-(
It is probably my Crohns.

Hi Anne!
A low ferritin basically mans you are low on stored iron. It is the first stage of iron deficiency anemia. Your body stores of iron are depleted. With time the blood iron will go down as well.
Please consult a hematologist to find the cause of iron deficiency anemia like diet poor in iron, poor absorption due to irritable bowel or blood loss in gut.
