Hit my head with my car door two days ago...am I psyching myself out?

Two days ago, I went to take the trash out of my car—as I opened the door I didn’t realize i was directly in front of it. Well the door cracked my right in my forehead right above my eyebrow. I immediately bent over and put my head down for a few seconds cause it hurt so bad. I walked around for the rest of the day with a huge knot on my forehead—it had a little blood but nothing serious just broke the skin. Well I have see the knot go down mostly but it’s still there with a barely noticeable bruise. I got a headache last night and it feels like a lot of pressure in my head. Also feels like the side of my upper head around my temple is swollen very slightly. I keep getting random head pain and the knot is still sensitive—do you think this could develop into something serious? I’m trying not to be a hypochondriac but I’ve been reading about brain injuries, hemorrhages, and hematoma...needless to say I’m scared to death lol. But I don’t have the money to go to the doctors so I really won’t ever know if it’s serious.

Ouch, sorry that happened.  Welcome to the forum and thank you for the question.  How much of a bang is too much?  That is going to be different for everyone.  The good news is that your head has a protective bone structure to help protect it.  Most head injuries like you describe are not severe and pass fairly quickly. However, it is beneficial for everyone to know what the signs of a concussion are.  There are rare cases where a single hit to the head causes cerebral hemorrhaging. That's rare though. For a mild head bang, normally, within an hour, you will feel better.  If you don't, then see a doctor, go the urgent care or ER. Symptoms to look for and monitor include headache, dizziness, confusion, fatigue, nausea, slurred speech, ringing in the ears, temporary loss of consciousness, and amnesia about events leading up to the injury.

So, hopefully you recovered nicely and all is well.  See your doctor whenever you have doubts.
