Neurology...Aarachnoid Brain Cyst Need help. Thanks!

My husband has a huge arachnoid cyst:

His cyst is 6.8 x 9.3 x 10.5 cm
Frontal Region

Diffusion weighted images reveal no areas of diffusion restriction to suggest acute or subacute stroke. There is a large extra-axial CSF signal collection which fills and expands the right middle cranial fossa and then extends superiorly into the right sylvian fissure and right posterior frontal region, consistent with a large arachnoid cyst.

A drain or catheter enters the cyst from a lateral approach, an Ommaya reservoir by history. The cyst remodels and deforms the overlying right temporal and frontoparietal bones. It also produces remodeling of the lateral wall of the right orbit with creation of mildright proptosis.

The third and right lateral ventricle are compressed by the arachnoid cyst and there is about 4 mm of leftward midline shift at the level of the third ventricle and 5 mm leftward midline shift at the level of the septum pellucidum.

There is no abnormal signal intensity identified in the brain parenchyma. Post contrase sequences reveal normal meningeal and vascular enhancement. There are no enchancing parenchymal lesions. Gradient echo images show no areas of blooming to suggest hemorrhage.

Multiplanar MR imaging of the brain was performed with a 1.5 T system. Sagittal, axial and coronal sequences were performed through the brain, including diffusion and gradient sequences.

Post contrast imaging was performed following the administration of 20 cc of intravenous gadolinium. There were no immediate complications.

Surgery made him much worse. Any advice or support you could give me I would appreciate. Thanks so much!

You'd likely have to choose a hospital pharmacist where diamox is used for such a thing as what you are interested in... they might have access to information how it works as a professional working at a hospital where it's being utilized for what you describe.

A church prayer support group takes different forms.  Sometimes, churches have prayer chains, where calls will go out to church members on the prayer support list, asking them to pray.  Sometimes, they have prayer lists they will insert in bulletins or hand out in Sunday School classes, asking people to pray to the Great Physician, the Lord.

Thank you very much for responding!  Appreciate it!  The Neurosurgeon has given up...thinking that surgery would kill him.  He has given up so we are trying to find a new doctor...Neurologist.  Yeah, the MRI is beyond me too.  I'm not sure about hormones...is that a common problem with Aarchnoid cysts?

Thank you so much for responding!  He had a part shunt put in...a resevoir type thing.  No we don't have a church support group..what is that please? Again thanks for responding!  I haven't called the pharmacist because Diamox is normally used for patients with Glaucoma and not Arachnoid cysts.  Would they know what it is used for specifically?

Hiya-
So what exactly is happening with your husband symptom-wise? What does the neurosurgeon say? Are his hormones all ok?
Sorry but the MRI is beyond lil ole me. I'm just a patient.
Sending you a big virtual hug from Hawaii

found this on your other post:

I've heard of people being put on Diamox to drain the fluid but I can't find much information about that.  Can you help please?  Thanks!

Have you tried calling a hospital pharmacist, as they have access to a lot of medication information?

So, did he have surgery to drain the cyst or what kind of surgery did he have?  Do you have a church prayer support group?  Our moderator went to a pituitary conference in Chicago, so you may have to wait longer than usual for her to respond, but she is very diligent at responding to posts.
