brain tumor?

four years ago, i dont know exactly when, i realized i was slowly getting worse and worse memory. usually i would be able to concentrate in class on my leacher's lecture and retain almost all the information. but i started losing focus and could not remember the information. my thought process was somehow hindered. when i tried to think hard about something, it would, as funny as it sounds, make my head hurt. my memory is still regressing and i feel like i cannot even think. my friend often times tells me ii repeat myself all the time but i cant remember. i could barely even remember what i have just said most of the time. it scares me that i used to have a good memory and think deeply, and now that i am in college i dont know how ill survive. i dont think its alzheimers, i was only 13 when this started happening.
now this past week i have been getting headaches when i try to study or do homework, even when im leisurely reading something. ive also felt dizzy and very tired in the evening (i do not think these are due to stress). this sounds rediculous but i almost hope its a brain tumor because at least then ill know i havent been crazy these past 4 years and there really is something wrong with me. i have been too afraid to tell my parents though because the issue about my memory and thought process sound silly even to me. do you think its a brain tumor?

Hi again. I recently had an eye-opening experience with my own diet. Because of my fatigue and memory problems this summer, I tried an anti-yeast diet myself for two weeks.
No sugar of any kind, no honey, no fruit, no dairy (except butter), no vinegar, nothing malted, no glutens, and no caffeine. I ate only organic vegetables, brown rice, chicken, eggs, turkey, almonds, walnuts, and decaf tea.
The first three days were very difficult, and I was very tired. I think my body was craving the sugar. On the morning of the fourth day, I sat down to watch the morning news on tv, and noticed we had a much clearer picture than usual. But it wasn't the tv, it was my eyesight. I couldn't believe my vision had improved so much in only three days! By the fifth day my energy was way up, I had lost three lbs., and I felt great.

Unfortunately, I couldn't keep it up. I slowly brought back all the sugary foods. But I am intrigued by the vision improvement I experienced and would try the diet again to see if I get the same results.

My son had symptoms of pituitary hormone loss - growth hormone, testosterone, thyroid and adrenal hormones. It started with headaches, light sensitivity, nasal allergy symptoms,  abdominal pain, sensory defensiveness, and extreme morning fatigue and nausea. He lost his appetite and lost weight, his skin became very dry, he had cold intolerance, he became very emotionally sensitive, and he developed a heightened sense of smell.
Even his lack of growth didn't clue any of his doctors in to what was really wrong. I realized on my own that he needed to get to an endocrinologist for help. The endo knew almost immediately that he could have a pituitary tumor, and she was right. It took two and a half years before the tumor was found, even with all those symptoms.

hm thanks for your input! im not exactly sure if my diet is the cause of this, but ill definitely try changing my eating habits. i dont drink soda but i guess i have been eating some more sweets. i wear contacts, ive always had terrible vision but yea actually my right eye felt funny (sort of like it was stinging) when i was tearing up a bit after speaking to my parents on the phone. i just dont know what to do about my memory loss. by the way what symptoms did your son experience?

Hi!  I'm just guessing, but your headaches sound like tension headaches, possibly from a vision abnormality. Do you wear glasses, or have you noticed any blurring or eye sensitivity?
Also, your symptoms could all be related to diet. Things like soda and sugary or starchy foods can cause brain fog and memory issues. You could have an intestinal yeast overgrowth, or low iron level causing dizziness and headaches too. Examine your diet carefully. Are you getting enough protein? Have you ever had hypoglycemia?

My daughter is also in college, and had the same symptoms. It was from low iron, occasional hypoglycemia and intestinal yeast overgrowth. I took her to a clinical nutritionist who ordered blood and urine tests, food allergy tests and nutrient tests. After a change in eating habits, she no longer has these problems.

You might want to consider having your parents help you find a good nutritionist who will test for these possibilities. It could make all the difference in your memory and energy level.

Incidentally, my son did have a brain tumor/cyst, and his symptoms were much worse. He had a pituitary tumor, so his hormones were affected. While it is possible your symptoms could be from a hormone issue, your diet can effect your hormones.

You should share your concerns with your parents. If they think nothing is wrong with you, just send them to MedHelp for some info!
