Blood seeping

I have a small discharge of blood seeping from my left breast only. This happens once or twice a month for the past four months. I have no pain or discomfort. I have had a mammogram three months ago, no mass was found. My doctor thinks I need to have a duct biopsy. I have an appointment with a surgeon next month. I would like some more information about this problem. Does this happen offen with women over 70 years of age or at any age?

Dear joniijoly, Bloody nipple discharge is an abnormality that should be further investigated.  It is not a normal/common occurance.  There could be many explanations for it but it needs to be further checked into as you are doing with the surgeon.

I just found a small amount of blood in my bra today.  I also had a mammogram a couple of months ago with no mass detected.  I will be 66 on Monday.  Are you on any kind of medications?  I have been on blood pressure medication and hormone replacement for years with none of these symtoms.  I am looking for answers also.
