Burning behind nipple with sore armpit

Hello--

I'm 24 years old and am in generally in good health. A little over a year ago, I found  some slightly enlarged lymph nodes under my right armpit, simultaneous with side pain and some tooth infections (all seemingly unrelated). I sort of freaked out and called my doctor, who said she could barely feel the nodes, and that because they were so small and moveable they were probably nothing. She also says because I'm so skinny, I probably feel them more easily then someone a little heavier set would. She ran a CBC twice and that came back normal. So I've been keeping an eye on them for the past few months, and they haven't seemed to change much (not as far as I can tell).

Since then, the side pain and teeth problems have gone away. The lymph nodes remain the same, as far as I can tell, but off and on I'll have armpit tenderness, usually not in the enlarged lymph nodes, but in other areas of my armpit. This doesn't usually happen in the left armpit, in which I can feel a few little lymph nodes, but nothing like in my right. I've also been have some pain in my right breast for about three weeks. It started sort of above the breast in the thicker tissue there, but since then has mostly been a low-grade burning pain behind my nipple that comes and goes and is more distracting than anything. I'm planning a trip to the doctor, but I'm pretty sure she'll blow it off as nothing since I'm so young. However, I don't want to overlook something that could be serious, even if there's a very small chance. Should I push for additional tests, like an MRI, mammogram or ultrasound? Or should I talk my doctor at her word if she doesn't think there's a problem?

Thanks so much!

Thank you for your suggestions. I wasn't really sure where to post the question, and thought this forum was the most directly relevant. I will mention the Ultrasound to my doc if she doesn't bring it up herself. Thanks very much!

Breast pain isn't at all unusual in women of almost any age. I don't see any relation to your complaints to Breast Cancer but if you are as concerned as you seem to be then I would make an appointment with a Breast Specialist for some type of testing, most likely an Ultrasound at your age. There could be some issue concerning the milk ducts and this could easily be investigated. As far as the lymph nodes, they could have been slightly enlarged due to the dental problems and very often when they do increase in size they may never go back to what you might call "normal" size. You could take a chance with your own Dr. and request the Ultrasound ... if she doesn't comply then seek the opinion of a Specialist.  Regards ....
