I am 62 years old. My left nipple has been itching horribly for the last 6 months. I didn’t realize how bad it was until my friend noticed I was always scratching my left breast. Plus - I noticed I had scratched all the color off of the left side of my nightgown. I finally went to the doctor. She told me to use hydrocortisone cream. It did not help. She gave me a 6 day steroid pack. That seemed to work for a few days. I had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. The radiologist said all looked ok except for a cyst in my left breast. (The cyst is directly below where it itches). The radiologist sent me to a surgeon because she didn’t know what to do with me. (Her words). The surgeon said to put zinc cream (diaper rash cream) on my breast. I have been doing that for a week with little to no relief. I have itching only - no nipple discharge. The doctor says it’s not possible for me to have pagets because I do not have nipple discharge. Everything I have read about pagets mentions that it is often mis-diagnosed as dermatitis or edema. I’m scared and do not know what to do. I would appreciate any help.
