Muscle Spasm or Electrical current type sensation in Breast

Yesterday (5/18/11) I began feeling a sensation in my right breast, at first I thought it was my shirt that was rubbing against my breast the wrong way, it kept bothering me, then I realized the sensation was coming from inside my breast.  It happens about every 18 seconds and lasts for 1.91 seconds (I've timed it), it is not painful, but is very irritating.  It feels like it generates from somewhere in the middle of my breast toward the nipple area, and is a cross between an electrical current type sensation to a muscle spasm sensation.
Does anyone have any idea what this is?  Is this related to any type of breast cancer symptoms?

I’m having the exact same issue.
At first I thought it was my shirt rubbing against my chest too but it’s not. It’s so very irritating! It doesn’t hurt, just feels like a strange spasm that comes on slowly in my right breast and happens every 10 min or so. I haven’t timed them exactly... but it’s been going on for a few days now. I am hoping it goes away soon! I know this forum is old... but just hoping anyone can help me out with this. Did you ever figure out what the issue was by chance?

Let me ask you this . . .  do you think there is any way this could actually be a palpitation?  They do feel like what you describe a  bit . . .

Strange but I have the exact sensation in my right breast. Did it eventually go away? And did you see a doctor for confirmation?  I hope that you are OK and can shed a little light on this for me.

Yes, I understand the whole nerve thing and the analogy of a leaky roof is really good.  Initially this is what I decided it was, as I've had muscle spasms before, just never in my breast!  Found this website forum and thought it would be a good place to ask this question since I really didn't feel I was in any danger, and definitely never in any pain.  I'm glad to have had someone reach out and respond to my question.  I appreciate your time.

I always compare a pinched nerve or nerve irritation to trying to find a leak in the roof. The actual leak is rarely where you first see an indication in the structure below. You can have a similar problem and the pain you feel might be in your hand or wrist. Nerves are complicated networks that can affect a part of the body quite some distance from the actual problem. I'd still have it checked out and from the description of the pain it really sounds nerve related.   Hope it doesn't come back !!  Kindest regards ....

I didn't believe it was a symptom of breast cancer either, but there wasn't any other forum to post the question to that related to just the breast area.  But I'm not sure how you can say that it may not have anything to do with the breast at all, when the only area that was being affected was the breast.  It has subsided as of today, but on Wednesday it started out by happening every 19 seconds, then yesterday it was every 10 seconds, then last night as I went to bed it was every other second, so almost continuously.  It has not occurred at all today.  Appreciate the response.

This doesn't sound like a symptom of breast cancer .. or possibly anything to do with the breast itself. It could be a result of either some nerve damage or irritation of a nerve ending. If it continues I would advise you to ck. with your personal Physician.   Regards ....
