intraport for chemotherapy

I had a intraport catheter inserted in my left upper chest for chemotherapy infusions 18 months ago.  It was removed 1 year ago.  I had a mammogram today and a "plastic tip" seems to  have been left behind after the removal of the port.  Is this normal to leave behind and if not should I have it removed?  The "plastic tip" looks like the lid off a testtube if that makes sense to you.  I don't see my surgeon till next month and I am curious.

Wow, that's not normal. Good thing you have not develped any problems. What did the radiologist say who did your mammogram?  I was reading my charts after surgery, and when I had a mastectomy, and it says the count for the clips did not come out right; they were one short. Supposedly, they looked everywhere to find it but could not, and then did an x-ray and that did not find the clip either. So, they figured, if it did not show it was not there and sewed me up. Now, this surgeon was really great but I did not like those radiologist surgeons who put in my port. They were rude and I have a huge scar where they placed it and later removed it. It looks much worse than my mastectomy scar. I would really be interested in knowing what happens next in your case, if you are willing to share. good luck.
