i AM IN great jeopardy as my aunt is suffering from CA(Left breast) and doctors has suddenly recommended the HERCEPTIN dosage. In past the chemo alone was recommended. Now on second opinion , I am going for FISH TEST to further confirm the HER2 -3+ treatment procedure.
Kindly guide if this will help me or I am going the right way.

You may be concerned about the reliability of the test results due to recent information that has come out about these results being unclear in many cases. Below is a link to a New York Times article addressing this issue.

You might feel more confident if the FISH test confirms the original results.

If your aunt's cancer is HER2+ it is very important, as japdip stated, that she be treated with Herceptin. It has also been found that the outcome is improved if Herceptin is given at the same time as chemo, rather then waiting until afterwards. Pleas see the post today by zouzi, in another thread dealing with this matter. (I will post the link to that thread below.)

Best wishes...

If your Aunt's cancer is HER2 positive then the administration of Herceptin will certainly give her the very best chance for survival and lessen the chance of recurrance. Perhaps the Her2 test was not completed when only Chemotherapy was recommended. I don't see why the Her2 test done would be in error.   Regards....
