First mammogram and got a call back

Hello, I'm 40 yr old who just got her first mammogram couple of days ago. I got a call back and needed to schedule a follow up, which will be tomorrow. They said they will investigate with more pics and maybe an ultrasound. in 2013 I had hysterectomy for an ovarian cancer which was contained. I am so worried because I know that someone has to fall into that 10% that gets call back and the 2% that actually have an issue. looking for some support. Thank you!

Thank you for your comment Zouzi! Indeed, they think it was just a fold of skin or tissue. Today they didn't find what they saw last week, I had mammogram and ultrasound today. they asked me to come back in 6 months just to make sure. I am relieved but all the stress while waiting took a toll on me for sure. The spot compression mammogram was so painful I felt like a child at the doctors. Thank you for the good words and wishing you and the rest of the community health.

Hi,
The fact that you are being called back is very common. You’ll be having a spot compression mammogram which will  focus only a small area of the breast that is unclear to the Radiologist.
The purpose of a spot compression mammogram is to achieve better imaging especially if you have  dense breast that can make mammography interpretation more difficult. Very often it’s just the skin that has folded over on itself and looks like a shadow.A spot compression can focus in on the area and help to clarify.
I hope that all will be just fine with your second mammogram.
Best wishes...
