Possible breast cancer at young age?

About 5-6 months ago I had a small scab on my right breast, and it was small enough, that if I put a tiny bandaid there (because it pussed a little) that would be enough to cover it. Slowly it started to get bigger and it wasn't necessarily on the nipple but I guess on the aereola. I am 17 so I still go to a pediatrician and of course he really doesn't deal with strange things as this so I don't really think he knows what it is or what to do. For about three months now he has been treating me for a yeast infection but it's gotten worse and moved to the left breast as well. Now both breast are COVERED with scabs (pussing I believe and it leaves a yellowish lightly brown discharge) all over the aereola and I believe possibly on the nipple (but the nipple is not discharging). I'm not so sure how to really describe it, it is new to me and I am not used to this because I am so young so hopefully I described everything right. It is also itchy and tingly and I have looked up ALL sorts of things and found the symptoms to Paget's disease which seems to fit the description. I am very scared of what this is and I hope I found out what it is and a cure because it is slowly ruining what I have left of my "teen/child hood" I know that Paget's disease is a rare form of breast cancer, and having ANY type of breast cancer at 17 is SO RARE but could it possibly be breast cancer? What should I do? It is very un-comfortable and has only been getting WORSE! Thank you.

Dear farfor,  The skin on the breast is like skin anywhere else on the body and can be subject to rashes, infections etc.  Paget’s disease is a rare form of breast cancer.  Symptoms usually associated with this are itching, redness, and spontaneous (not forced) nipple discharge.  For Paget’s disease to be diagnosed requires a sample of the tissue to be examined under the microscope.  Paget’s disease is almost never found on both breasts.  As this has been an ongoing and what has been tried has not been helping you may want to see a dermatologist who could evaluate this for you.

I would ask your paediatrician for a referral to a dermatologist. It sounds as if you have a skin infection which may be solved by antibiotics.
Good luck.
Liz.
