Side Effects of Chemotherapy

I begin chemotherapy next week (pre-operation) for breast cancer. I have been told I will lose my eybrows and eyelashes. Is this true?

My hair all came out. Eyebrows and eyelashes too! Leg, arm, pubic and pits too! It was an interesting look, to be sure!

I didn't mind the "bald" look and never wore a hat or wig or scarf. I did miss the eyelashes though since every piece of dirt flew into my eyes!

It's not such a big deal though and you'll do fine :)

Best wishes with your treatment, and let us know how you're doing!

Not everyone reacts to chemotherapy the same way and it also depends on the type of chemo you are having.  I did not lose my eyebrows or eyelashes although they did become thinner.  However, I did lose all of the hair on my head, under my arms and in my public area.  I did not lose the hair on my legs or arms.  All of the hair grew back except for the hair under my arms.  I have not had to shave under my arms since I had chemo. : )  My chemo was AC and I didn't have radiation.  I hope all goes well with your treatment.
