I really have no ideal how long the strange thing is I went in for a routine mammo
thinking it would be fine. They called my back in for a ultrasound telling me
it looked suspicious then sent me to a breast surgeon for the core biopsy.

It was 2.5 centimeters-neither I or the Dr.s could feel it because it was very deep.
I have been & will be praying for you.Let me know how it turns out.
I know a week right now seems like a year.
God Bless

Usually mammograms are followed by an US to get a better diagnostic.Ultrasound are very useful in detecting cysts. I suspect,(and mine is only a guess) that the lump you have might be a cyst or a fibroadenoma(Both benign findings) or even an abscess which is an infection and that's why you see a red blotch on your skin.Cancerous lumps are usually not painful..but it's a good thing that you are having this lump tested.A biopsy could follow if the lump is suspicious and this procedure is the only way to know the real nature of this lump.Good luck and best wishes for this coming Thursday.

I noticed a lump in the shower this past Saturday.  It was about th size of a lima bean and definately had not been there for long.  When I got out of the shower and looked in the mirror I noticed a round dime sizes red blotch over the same area.  It does not itch ans does not look like a bug bite.  It is slightly raised and a rather bright red. The blotch is not tender to the touch at all but when pressure is applied, it hurts below the blotch (deeper into my breast).  I called my MD monday and she took me right away.  She did feel the lump and agreed the blotch did not looked like a bug bite.  She told me that normally she would do a needle aspiration but it was in an area where they couldn't do that.  She set me up with our Breast Imaging Center for a mammogram and a sonogram.  That is not until Thursday even though she put a STAT on it.  It is now Tuesday and the Lump and the blotch are still the same. I am worried for a few reasons. 1.)  Is it commonplace to have both a mammogram and a sonogram?  2.) Does it mean anything that it is very tender to the touch? 3.) Why would there be a blotch?

I agree prepare for the worst but at the same time think positive.I just went
through the same thing.Doctors kept telling me it looks bad but after the biopsy
the results came back a fibroadenoma. I had it removed 2 weeks ago.

God bless & i hope everything turn out well

Don't wait until the biospy results are in to get yourself ready for the possibilities.  There is an fantastic list of questions you should ask your doctor on Cancer.net.  It really helped me keep thinks organized and prioritized in the first confusing weeks after my diagnosis.

Hope all goes well and you won't need the checklist, but better ready than rushing.....
God bless you.
