Hi frustratedrg,
How are you? Is there a family history of breast cancer?  Birad or breast imaging reporting and data system is a scale by which radiologist grade mammograms from one to five. Category 1 will be negative, and 5 will be highly suggestive of malignancy.  Each case is not the same as other cases but usually, patients with Birad 3 will be tracked at intervals of 6, 12, and 24 months or until the Birad score proceeds to 4 or 5.  It would be best to consult your doctor for proper evaluation and management.
Take care and keep us posted.

Yes, me.  i had invasive lobular bc in 2001.  i had a 1.3 cm tumor and lymph nodes clear.
i  had lumptectomy, radiation 5 yrs tamo and 3 mos. femara so far.
i have also had NUMEROUS clusters of calcifications (6) tested at different times and all benign.  most of which were birad 4.  these were an new indeterminate  cluster on my last biopsy. radiologist says "probably b9".
im completely disgusted and scared but keeping it together.  i made an appt. for biopsy next week and dont know how necessary it truly is.  Its getting to be a little much for me to handle.

I'm curious if there are stats on what percentage of birad 3's eventually proceed to birad 4 or 5?  I know that only about 2% of BIRAD 3s are actually cancer but I'm curious how often they actually move up to 4 or 5.

it isnt the birad that moves to 4 or 5, if it is a 3 and its b9 it will stay that way.
if by chance its not b9, then it never was a 3
