blood flow through a mass

help...... my doctor found a lump last Wed and sent me for a diagnostic mammogram early last Thursday morning.  they found a cyst and a mass.  I had an ultrasound done and the cyst if fluid filled but the mass is irregular and has blood flow through it?  the surgeon I met with today (wed) is very concerned and has scheduled me for surgery for an ultrasound guided needle biopsy on Friday morning?  has anyone had anything similar?   any guidance would be appreciated.  THANKS :)

Hi,
Usually a tumor with blood flow seen on Ultrasound film, increases suspicion especially if a mass has irregular edges.At this point in time it is difficult to reassure you completely or to predict what the biopsy will reveal.However it’s not unheard of to detect blood flow in benign breast tumors that could also present with irregular borders.
I wish you good luck on your upcoming biopsy and  please keep us posted when you receive the results which I hope will be benign.
