breast lump

I had a mammogram 4 wks ago and went to my surgeon for the results and he said the report looked great. Although he found a "mass or lump" in the right breast when he did the exam after the mammogram. He said he felt like it was just breast tissue and wanted to recheck in 6 months. I wanted an ultrsound but he would not agree. Do u feel 6 months is to long? I do. I'm very scared. No family history of breast cancer. I want to know what it is. Can it progress over 6 months to far?

Evidently the Mammogram report was not alarming or there would have been some additional immediate recommendations rather than the 6 month recheck. If the finding were very suspicious I'm sure a biopsy of some type would have been recommended by the Radiologist who read your films.   Regards ....

Thanks...I just wonder can something not show on a mammogram and then 4 wks later be felt during an exam??? That is my concern. I just feel that 6 months is just too far out. Not really sure if I can wait that long. I have a difficult time with my self-exam trying to tell what is a lump and what is normal (for me).

Thanks.
