Biopsies are recommended to be performed according to the BIRAD score assigned by the Radiologist reading the films. It is a standard set up by the Radiology Assn. and is used universally. The BIRAD score in turn is assigned depending on how the calcifications appear.
the radiologist said mine had benign characteristics and is following up with a 6 months checkup
No doubt they were seen scattered about within the breast ..... they are indicative of a problem when they are grouped or clustered in patterns. Your BIRAD score was probably a 3 if he recommended a 6 month follow-up.
