Katarina777: Thank you so much for taking the time to post a reply to my question. Your answers and comments are very helpful. The unknown is just always a little unsettling, and this is the first time I have been called back for follow-up screening. Thanks again.
Kathybel, this is fairly routine what your doctor told you, and he should have told you that. Usually they call it dense breasts. Most younger women have dense breasts and.or even lumpy breasts like you. I even have it at the age of 50. They will do a diagnostic mammogram and maybe even an ultrasound. At this point and for what he told you this is about, there is really no reason for concern. Since I already had cancer, they did this diagnostic mammogram immediately after the screening mammogram, and the nurse also acted like her lips were sewn together. I found out immediately, and I think in your case also, you will know right away. not always is a radiologist present for those basic mammograms but usually always when the other one is done. Same with ultrasound. At least, they will know immediately. (and if for some reason I am wrong, it's a very short time, not like with a biopsy where it can take up to a week of waiting) hope this helps, kat
