mammogram

I received a letter from the breast center which i had taken my last mammogram in January 2015. They are requesting that I come back for breast sono. They are writing that the imaging examination showed an indeterminate area that requires further investigation with breast sono. Is it common?  do I have to be nervous about it? My last mammogram was taken exactly a year ago whre everything was normal.

This discussion is related to what are indeterminate calcifications.

Hi,
To be called back for an ultrasound is very common. The test is required to get a better idea of what they
are looking at. Try not to worry too much… It could be one of many benign abnormalities that just need to be further investigated to make sure of what it is.
Go ahead with your Ultrasound and keep positive thoughts, this test is a very good tool at differentiating between lumps that are solid or fluid filled, such as Fibroadenomas and Cysts, which are both benign in nature.
Best wishes...

Well, if the abnormality is benign, then there is no need to remove it, but of course it should be monitored to check for any changes.
Take care and lets hope for benign results! :)
