There really isn't much to understand in the report except that you have a breast mass and it hasn't yet been determined as to it's nature. The biopsy is the only way to tell if a mass is benign or cancerous and these are the two possibiliies that were mentioned in the report. The BIRADS score would no doubt be a 4 as this is the score assigned when a biopsy is recommended as in your case. It's a national scoring system so I would think it would be used in Canada but often it isn't used for Ultraound exams. It's just a matter of waiting for the results of your biopsy and that's the hardest part. Good Luck ....
Thank you so much for your comment Spree. To answer some of your Q's. I had an Ultrasound done because I am nursing my 4 month old son. The surgeon did a FNA after he got the report back. (Findings in above comment) Thanks again!
Dear Frightened,
I have never been to a sight like this, but I can feel your anxiety. So here goes.
So sorry you have to deal with this.
I don't know if this was found on sonogram, mammogram or you felt a lump, your age and family history play a part. Was this a core biopsy, (guided by songram) or open biopsy, (regular surgery).
I have had many biopsies and I can tell you that most biopsies ok - not cancer, just fibroadenoma's or cysts.
Hang in there.
The best thing about the future is it happens one day at a time.
Do some fun activites and try and keep your mind off of it.
Think positive.
Good luck, you are in my thoughts.
