surgical drain following hernia still in after 7 weeks

I recently had  3 hernias removed from my abdomen at the same time that both breasts reconstruction were revised.  Breast cancer was the diagnosis 3 years ago.  This time I went home with 4 drains.  The drain in my right hip has not been removed yet. My surgery was March 12, 2010 this time.  That drain is still outputting over 30 cc per day.  Now I am experiencing overflow---wake up with wet sheets and pjs---even have drainage leakage when resting on my futon in our study.  The surgeon used alloderm and has explained that this does take rest, protein, and patience.  Am I being too impatient?  I am relatively active --trying not to overdo.  I do rest when I feel fatigue.
Thank you for advice you can share.

Dear karo42,  Your question is best directed to a general surgeon.  In general, drainage after surgery can be more prolonged than expected.  You want to be sure to keep the skin around the drains as dry as possible, also report any signs of infection such as fever, redness or burning of skin around drains to you surgeon.
