was told they were simple cysts 3 yrs ago now solid masses

Hello again. I had another couple of questions that has been weighing on my mind. I hope someone can help.
I will give you a shortest version of the story as I can.

In 2006 I had mammogram and ultrasound. The mammogram saw what looked to be a 7mm simple cyst .  The ultrasound was done but report was sent to wrong doctor. I never got the report indicating a 7mm cyst that should be asperated. (I just got copies of all my tests for the surgeon I am seeing on Monday. This is how I found all this out)

When you do not hear anything...you assume it is all good.

Please do not judge me...but, going through many other very serious health issues the past few years...I missed  getting my mammograms until last week. Well the mammogram showed what looked like the previous cyst but a couple mm larger. Because I was considered cystic before the radiologist rated it  as benign with no further tests needed.

However, my family doctor urged me to have it looked at with an ultrasound. He said he likes to be on the safe side.

I did. The report showed it being a 1.1 cm hypoechoic with mild vascularity with another hypoechoic mass adjacent to it. This time...a different radiologist reported that the larger hypoechoic mass needed biopisied and the smaller one removed  at the same time. Suggesting to me that he wants them excised.

My questions are...can a cyst become a solid mass? If it were cancerous...would it have grown a lot more? What does mild vascularity indicitive of?

Please give me any of your thoughts...good or bad. Thank you.

God bless every one of you brave individuals on this site. My prayers are with you all.

Cysts never become anything other than cysts ... they can however contain only fluid, or a mixture of fluid and solid material. Cysts usually do change in size over time and can be removed at any time or sometimes aspirated. In your post I see a couple of good reasons to always obtain copies of your reports and to have routine yearly followups no matter what else is going on. I'm guessing that the Radiologist is recommending an Excisional Biopsy since he mentioned removing the smaller one at time of biopsy. Your Surgeon will be the one to advise as to biopsy / removal after he/she reviews all your films. They usually prefer films rather than just reports by the way. Let us hear from you after you see the Surgeon on Monday.
