laughter
I hope april doesn't get upsetwith me, but a journel she posted and her mood saying "a laugh aday keeps the blues away". reminds me of few things I would like to discuss. April that journl entry is well jsut is...rofl..if anyone reading this nees a laugh read her journel "the date". Anyways back to my subject here, do you all find that some in the wolrd beleive that we Christains should not have any fun or have laughter? God put laughter into us so we could get enjoyment and pleasure. Now I am not advocating the dirty type of stuff, but good clean jokes and stories...April...rofl... This just makes me shake my head when someone tells me "hey your a christain why are you having a good time" because we are support to at the right times. If I am off base here please tell me? My grandma used to have a picture of Jesus, a charcoal drawing, I think, that showed Jesus with his head thrown back laughing. I loved that picture. :)
I would like to think the Lord laughs with us.
I look to the book of Romans in the admonitions to the strong and weak (14:1-15:7)
If something is causing a brother to stumble, who am I to flaunt it in front of him. On the other hand, I cannot live my life worrying every moment that someone is watching me and will stumble because of what I do/say......
We do watch each other, that is a given.
So...moderation and the fruits of the Spirit come into this as well as the teaching (edifying, equipping, etc.). I think the Church I went to that I can personally witness to, has those who accuse it of being too liberal by more fundamental believers, tried to meet the needs of those coming out of abusive backgrounds and addictions/divorce, etc. by having support groups.
I spent years between various bible studies, support groups on dysfunctional families, prayers groups, etc. in soaking up what I could. I read through the whole Bible in about a year, praying each day I read for wisdom and direction and for the Lord to write His word upon my heart. I had asked when I first came into the church for a mentor. The person the Elders sent to me, ironically, had been a former Nun and did not believe the teachings at my Church were correct. She had left the Church and felt that women teaching men was wrong according to the bible, and that psychologically based teachings were wrong....so I went through a lot of stress as I kept thinking how they sent her to me. Finally I called & talked with someone who apologized and then sent me to the wife of one of the Elders.
In the midst of that the JW's were stopping by & I would go around & around about the Trinity....they were so nice, more reliable than the Postman. I didn't want to hurt the lady's feelings by telling her to get lost, because she already was, according to many........
This is just a glimpse of a small window into what as Christians we deal with. Forget the debates with atheists on how God can exist & them telling you that you have to prove it as you assert He exists and you say, why do I have to prove it when you say, he doesn't exist? Is this funny????? Can we make a joke out of this???? It drives people crazy!
God knows this goes on....my hold on sanity is His hold on me. He is my Sanity as nothing makes sense in this life. Should I be laughing?
So, back to lighter stuff. Getting a pie in the face, giving a talk while trailing toilet paper sticks to your foot or your pants are not pulled up in back....we can laugh, can't we?
We can laugh over "cute critters" in strange poses....
I realize that I am not the judge over what others laugh over....I am responsible for me and sharing this view, towards others. I don't have to say a word...I could just pray....there is comfort in that.

The book says make a joyful noise unto the lord! I think anything we do, we should do it for him. Praise, pray, dance, sing, I would tell him a naughty joke or two myself! lol He made sex to be enjoyed and I tend to think he would get a chuckle himself out of some of our humanness! I think sometimes we are really uptight when it comes to pleasing god. I guess I am strange when it comes to that. My mama always told me if I was worried about if something was right or wrong I could clear it all up if I just imagined Jesus as my bestest friend who went everywhere I did. If ya cannot do it in front of him, then it is wrong!

I tell you what! Can Christians have fun? Are you kidding me? I had the most fun after I came back to Christ and went on a women's retreat through the church I was going to. I did wonder when they said to bring water guns! After our time of worship, guest speakers and bible study, we all had some down time and played outside with the water guns! Then we got into our PJ's, brought out all the junk food we brought with us and stayed up most of the night talking, laughing and eating. Women were running in and out of each other's rooms, playing little (harmless) practical jokes on each other! I looked around in wonder thinking "Are these women or kids in adult bodies?" Lol. Still, it was all good fun, a way to wind down and just let our hair down.
As long as it's good, clean fun, as Dazon said, not lewd or hurtful, then yes, I think we should have fun! Laughter is good for the soul! God, Himself said so!

No...as long as it isn't lewd...lascivious (let me check the spelling).....wow, can't believe I nailed that one!
If we were clowning all the time and not showing "balance", there would be problems. Imagine how easy to conquer a city if the citizens were lying on the ground rolling around in laughter all the time....
