Hello Jonkammerer3. Welcome to the forum but sorry for your concerns. It's important to work with your doctor. Normally, the area you describe is a place where we might get a lymph node or a cyst. This is not the back of your neck? I think I'd be nervous about a nurse cutting on the bump if it is right on a ceratoid artery. Urgent care is helpful in acute situations but not often the best solution for ongoing care. Do you have a regular doctor? I would schedule an appointment to be seen as soon as you can with them. And if they took a sample of what they found when they cut into the bump, hopefully the urgent care sent that to pathology. Having pain makes this less likely to be some of the cancers that might show as a lump on the neck with the exception of thyroid cancer. But again, there are several things that are not cancer related that can cause these lumps. https://www.healthline.com/health/neck-lump#pictures-of-neck-lumps Can you see your regular doctor in the very near future?
