Finally, my efforts are paying off -

A dedicated Sarcoma Oncology Clinic will start Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at the Arizona Cancer Center - North Campus, Tucson.

Dr. Lee Cranmer, sarcoma oncologist and Dr. Jim Warneke, surgery oncologist will be at the clinic every Monday mornings. Dr. Matt Seidel, orthopedic oncologist will be at the clinic 2 times a month initially.

It will increase in interdisciplinary functions, but as we all know - $$$ and sarcoma specialists are needed. This is why I championed the local sarcoma support group.......

Time will tell.

With HOPE and LIFE for ALL.

About 33 people - patients/survivors/caregivers attended our first meeting July 16th. Most of them agreed to a quarterly meeting schedule - every 3 months for subsequent meetings, and most of them will communicate with each other by e-mail.

The Arizona Cancer Center speaker, Dr. Lee Cranmer stated that a multidisciplinary sarcoma clinic is in the process of being formed in Tucson, with assistance from the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ. Dr. Cranmer is one of the few medical professionals in Arizona that have any sarcoma experience/knowledge.

For the next meeting, we will also invite patients/survivors/caregivers from other parts of Arizona, as some attendees came from the Phoenix and Sierra Vista areas. October 15
is the tentative date for the next meeting.

A member from the Phoenix area wants to pursue the start of a "sister/brother" group
in her metro area.

Gotta spread the word.......
