Possible AFP mistake in blood work?

My brother just found out he has a HCC measuring 12 x14 cm.   How his primary never picked up on it over the last couple of years is beyond me.  I received copies of his blood work and for AFP it shows 524,000.   Can this be right or could it be a mistake.  I see people mention up to 1000 but never 1/2 million.   Any imput would be appreciated

Unfortunately the tumor marker level can get very high. But keep in mind but that the change in level is what to focus on. If his level were to drop a great deal due to chemo or radiation, etc ... this is good!   Be sure to get a good team of doctors... YOUR TEAM... if you don't like a doctor, find another. This is your call, not the hospital's. Hoping for the bezt for him ... and you.
