I am so stressed with this waiting. The internist told me that more than likely the oncologist would want a PET scan. The problem is the oncologist has had the report and CD since last Friday and has not called me. I really like my oncologist. He treated me through breast cancer in 2003. I just wish he would call. I am sure you know this "MO." I am reading all kinds of information. Could be an endocrine pancreatic tumor.
What is the plan he suggested for you? A PET scan?
Thank you for your reply. I am working with a GI doctor, however he was reluctant to talk about doing the actual biopsy himself because of the aorta. The mass is sitting between the pancreas, stomach and celiac artery.
I have a mass on my pancreas too and I had to get an endoscopy to get the biopsy. I just had it a few weeks ago. It's really not all that bad. They sedate you for the whole thing. I hope you are ok! The type of doctor that did my endoscopy was a GI doctor.
Mine turned out to be a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor.
You should probably see a surgeon for this followup and/or a GI doctor. If you need surgery on your pancreas make sure you have it done by an actual pancreatic surgeon who is experienced in this type of surgery. It's extremely important you find someone who has a lot of experience doing surgery on the pancreas.
Seems that the next step will be a PET scan. Internist is telling me the area is very difficult to biopsy because of location near aorta.
Did they do biopsy of mass?
