Radiation results for laryngeal/ vocal cord cancer

Hello,
Dad has T1A-NOMO right vocal cord cancer. Radiation alone is recommended due to location of tumour. Please post results from those who have received radiation alone without surgery or chemo.  Please indicate stage when treated and length of time cancer-free or when a recurrence occurred. We have not seen positive results from people we know who have received radiation although the doctor is claiming a 90% success rate. My dad also has recurrent prostate cancer after failed radiation. Thank you
Pat

Hi, according to studies done, surgical treatment of early glottic cancers with total laryngectomy or open partial laryngectomy was associated with loss of normal voice or substantial decline in its quality. Radiation treatment has been associated with local control rates from 80%-95%, and shorter overall treatment times seemed to yield superior results. Good luck with his therapy.
