New to MVD

Hello and so glad to have found people that understand! I'm totally freaked out by this but have found comfort in reading that many of you are living with and managing it as part of your daily living. After having several scary episodes lately and winding up in the er - then all those tests - stress and angiogram - they have come to the conclusion that it is MVD they say guardedly - on atenolol, ranexa, Xanax, simvastatin. Have maybe had this for as long as five years since i experienced these symptoms then and they put it down as panic attacks!  And the symptoms did go away until now because i am under lots of stress as I was then. Yesterday had another attack but it wasn't as bad at least. Yes I have the small nitro tabs but am afraid to use them - I don't know why I think this is such a big deal but probably should have taken it to help yesterday - btw I'm one of those whose symptoms come out of the blue and aren't related to exercise - maybe more a stress thing. Question: What does it feel like to take a tab of nitro and how quickly does it work?

So sorry this is late but nitro is your best friend. You may feel hollow headed, get a headache or feel nothing except relief from pain. It is an old drug and is used around the world for hearts that are not egtting enough oxygen to the heart muscle, causes a dysfunctionla blood floww and can cause chest apin, stroke, and heart attack. Take this seriously. Use the nitro at the first sign of pain or SOB. You are not alone. As you read my journal I clearly state that this ischemia can come while you're on the couch or trying a flight of stairs. This is managable but it has to be done daily. Do not freak out. Ranexa has been founfd to be not very effective in most patients so other drugs like Imdur  may work. But nitro is the best! Please drop me a lline and update me. Hugs Joan.
