10m old kitten, vomit + refuse to eat or drink. got x-ray too

My ten months old kitten, Maurice, started puking on Thursday morning, about 15 to 20 times in the 48 hours that followed. Took him to the vet on Saturday morning, he was put on the drip, and eventually got blood work and x-ray done (long story)... he was given the all clear, all the results were negative and he was given anti-vomiting and anti-biotic to help him.  Went to check on him on Sunday morning, he was sitting at the very back of the cage hissing away:( and apparently he was sick once during the night. Vet suggested to keep him and wants to operate on him. I didnt think it was right when he didnt know what the problem was, so I took Maurice home and will go to another vet tomorrow.
I have started force feeding him baby food and water, will try some cat milk later. I would like to know if there is anything else it can do? Also the x-ray shows a dark shape, I would appreciate it if someone could tell me what that is.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Whitney

thank you for your kind words. i just can't believe this has happened.
his surgery went well, they took a large piece of toy stuffing from his intestines and he came around ad started breathing on his own. so there was no problem at all as far as we knew. i just can't accept this, its so unfair. All he wanted to do was to come home.

I just logged on and saw this terrible news, I am so very sorry for you and for poor little Maurice only 10 months old, still a baby:(
You did all a mommy could do for the little guy, he had some serious health issues going on, if not for the pneumonia he would have had a fighting chance, I am so very sorry. RIP little Maurice, you were only here for a short while but you were loved greatly..♥

Maurice passed away on monday night.

he saw the second vet, who was helpful. she instantly diagnosed him as having a bloackage because the x-ray showed an enlarged stomach. they took him in and prepared him for surgery. it was vey successful, however, some fluids got into his lungs during the op and he died of pneumonia that night. he was meant to come home to recover the next day.

Did Maurice see another Vet for a second opinion? I'm wondering how he is and if anything was diagnosed?...let us know♥

My kitty Zachary had the same issues after he ate a bag of Easter grass one year. Initial xray showed a "dark suspicious" area and then the vet did the barium swallow test to see if things were passing. Luckily he only had a partial blockage and with extra lubricants (liquid-lax) he was able to pass the grass both ends ;)
Ill say a prayer tonight

(((hugs)))

Have they down a barium swallow test to check for any blockage? They give the cat a chalky liquid and take xrays as it passes thru the digestive system. Is he pooping?

well I did look but I'm NOT a Vet only another pet parent, did the Vet tell you there was something suspicious with the xray? or did they feel it was normal?

I think you really need to talk to this Vet more or go ahead with another opinion if Maurice is not eating on his own or still vomiting by tomorrow....keep us updated, remember to bring in all test results and xrays with you so you don't have to pay again for this all to be done.
best of luck and please let us know what you learn♥

Hey, thanks for the prompt reply.
He seems to be holding the food, going to feed him more in 20 minutes or so. He also seem to have brightened up ever so slightly.
I tried to upload the photo to the post but it failed. I will try to do it on my profile and will let you know when it is done.
Thanks.

you have a very ill kitty as you know. I cannot blame you for not wanting exploratory surgery without more evidence, a second opinion is always a good idea...be sure to take a copy of all the test results and xrays that you have already paid for!!!

did your kitty ingest anything that may have been toxic?

otherwise when  nothing is showing in bloodwork, a tumor (dark shape)..where was this located??? can you give me more info please.

to assist feed is absolutely necessary if kitty won't eat on his own, I have included some info and a video on how to do this properly so kitty won't aspirate. Baby food PROTEIN only, such as chicken is a good start, however be very sure it doesn't contain onions...
BUT Maurice has to be able to hold this down and NOT vomit it back up, so go very slowly....if he is vomiting you will need to discontinue and take to a Vet as he will need IV feedings...let us know how its going and prayers for Maurice♥
