Cat is scared and won't eat. Will she die?

My cat is around 4 years old, she got used to my apartment and yesterday I drived her to my family's house. When I left her there she was scared to the point where she hid behind the counter and didn't leave once. My cat is very scared of everything, but there is no threat in the house. My grandma is taking care of her. She doesn't chase the cat, scare her in any way, but still my cat is terrified. I called today and my grandma said she didn't eat or drink or go to the toilet. Is it possible she could die this way?

Tell grandma to put kitty in a room of her own, with food and litter box. And don't dusturb her, allow her to get used to the new surroundings, scents and sounds. Adult cats are able to survive a few days without food and be fine, some lost cats even longer. She will hopefully settle in within a couple days if kept quiet and undisturbed.

Yes, she could.  Cats go into a condition commonly called fatty liver if they d not eat.  Basically the body starts eating itself and the condition can be fatal.  Kitties can not go more than a day or two before this becomes a real possibility.

You do not say whether she has been there before or not. If she is not used to your mother, her house, or both, as far as an animal knows, you have abandoned it with a stranger. I believe an animal reacts the same way a young child would react if being left in a strange environment.

Unless an emergency, I would always take my pet to familiarize it with the environment and people with 'me there' before I would leave them.
