Kitten diarrhea

I recently adopted a rescued 6 week old kitten. The kitten has had sever issues with going to the bathroom. I've brought her to 2 different vets and still the issue has not been resolved. I received the kitten as a bottle fed kitten and transitioned her to eating royal canin wet kitten food. At first the kitten was producing no stool at all the some must stools that wouldn't come all the way out of her behind and wound up becoming matted in her coat. I brought her to the local petsmart vet who gave her fluids under the skin and a oral laxitive. 2 days later i saw no results, just a straining kitty. After taking her to the second vet she was diagnosed with giardia and given a de wormer and placed on metronidazole and lactulose. I stopped giving the lactulose was stools became watery and brownish/yellow. I have finished the metronidazole but the diarrhea is still persisting. I don't know what to do anymore and I'm looking for some advice I feel terrible for this kitten and I don't want her to pass. Please help

Safeguard (Fenbendazole) works very well for giardia. Spend some time online & do some research on it.

Kittens and diareah---AHHHH yes they go hand and hand. Giardia is a pretty stinky parasite and it takes a while to work it out of the system.

Royal Canin makes a wonderful wet fiber food, that set my cat straight pretty fast. Maybe ask you vet about a few cans of that just to get her stools firmed.
Just a Thought!

Oh and by the way if she has diarrhea you can bet she is dehydrated--very bad for a little kitty, so check with you vet she may need IV fluids.

All the best

I  forgot to mention that I had her on pumpkin purée and a probiotic formula i bought at the pet store , the vet told me to discontinue. I have been feeding her royal Kanin kitten wet food. She seems to like it. I just started mixing in some steamed chicken because I've been reading about the benefits of diet with less grain and by product
I feed her one can of royal Kanin throughout a day 4 times and I add a little water I hydrate her

Thanks for all the input I'm taking her back to the vet again today

Yes, I guess she could have a food allergy or the food your are feeding just doesn't agree with her. I would recommend trying a different brand of food and a different main meat ingredient. (gradual transition). I would also recommend checking another stool sample to make sure something like coccidia was not missed or more recently acquired because the treatment is different.

Do you give her a specific wet food? ie: beef, chicken, fishes.  You might try something different if you are only doing one.  Try opus's info first.

oh your poor baby.....she is really struggling trying to get her system working properly. Metronidazale is a strong medication with many side effects including diarrhea, how long since she's been off this drug? I would think these side effects shall take a few days to work there way out of her system.
Meanwhile I would go to the grocery store and buy some PURE pumpkin in a can. make very sure its the PURE pumpkin and NOT the pie filling.
most cats like the taste of this and it is very good fiber for them, fiber works well for bulking up the stools and helping with diarrhea, it also can work good for SOME types of constipation...but be careful when using for constipation b/c it can bulk up the stool so much it will be difficult to pass and lead to megacolon.
but for now for her diarrhea use a tiny amount and mix it in her food, I don't know how much you are feeding her at one time? I would think a 1/8-1/4 teaspoon would be fine for even a kitten who eats just a small amount. refrigerate the remainder and mix a small amount once or twice a day in her wet food.
