Chemotherapy for Lymphoma

Hi I am new to this forum but I am hoping I will find someone with prior experience of lymphoma in cats.

Ebsey was diagnosed almost 2 months ago and was inoperable.  She has had 3 doses of tablet chemo 2 weeks apart, administered by me at home, and has tolerated it well.  But my vet is disappointed that the tumours have not shunk very much.  She is also suffering fluid retention and has ballooned up, even her little legs are all swollen.

My vet has given her diuretics for the fluid and we are waiting for the results of her latest blood tests at the moment.  But he has mentioned going a more aggressive chemo route, ie injection/drip.  Does anyone have any experience of this?  Ebsey is eating well, purring and generally happy and although I obviously want her to live for as long as she can, I want her to continue with a good quality of life and I'm just not sure how she will cope with being prodded about etc.  But I also suppose her quality of life will deteriorate quite quickly if we don't continue with/increase the chemo.

Any advice or opinions from cat guardians who have been in this unhappy situation before me would be very welcome.

Thanks
Lorraine

We lost our dear, sweet Silver Kestrel (Kessie) to lymphoma in June 20012.  We lost her younger sister Hildiekatt (my wife's bedtime buddy) to lymphoma this year at the beginning of June.

Both were a little over 12 years old; think it was a congenital defect.

In our experience, by the time you find it, it is too late.

Make kitty as comfortable as possible, palliative care instead of curative.

Ebsey will let you know when it is time to give her the Final Kindness.

Hi Lorraine and welcome.  I'm so sorry to read of Ebsey's dx of lympoma.  I have no experience here, but my comment will bump your thread to the top where it will be better seen.
