You could try baby wipes. I would go with one that is unscented and hypoallergenic, either that or you can try using cat wipes.
I found that for cats with long hair especially around the anal area, just a few wet paper towels work. You don't need to use soap, just some really wet paper towels.
This does two things:
1. It cleans the area, even if it takes more than a few soaked paper towels.
2. Cats really dislike water. The soaking paper towels that clean also promote the self-cleaning that should happen because they want to 'lick' off the water.
Remember, just some very wet paper towels...no soap.
Apple,
I would not use soap that is not meant for kitties honey. In other words, do NOT use anything soap if it isn't kitty soap. You could burn their skin and hair could come loose. Not a pretty picture.
Ginny,
Can't help you there. I cut all of it off! LOL
After I cut it I wash the area with a special shampoo that does not require water and it cleans and desinfects.
Good Luck!
Coicidences... or no? I was just thinking in posting a question similar asking if its ok using coconut bar soap for,,,
Do you have some opinion about that?
In fact I did but I was/am not sure if its ok. Girl is still fine til now :-) She just had a few dried stuff there,
do you mean a cleaning after a messy poop?....the easiest way I use is to put kitty into a sink with a very small amount of warm water with a small amount of kitty shampoo to soften if its dried on....just gently sponge off and rinse well with a spray nozzle on low.
put something on the bottom of sink(or tub) so kitty doesn't slip...this can cause them to get scared and start fighting you......If you go about this real slow and gently so as not to spook the kitty and keep reasuring her with you're voice that she is a good girl, patience!
good luck
