Ok I got the tag off my cat scratcher and it's distributed by Worldwise Inc in San Rafael, Ca. There is a product # 080625C. At their website the have a lot of different products, toys, etc. SmartyKat I believe is the line.
I'm sure there are better things than what I'm about to suggest, but we just put some double sided tape on sofa and chair that Jade used to scratch on. Just one area on the sofa and one area on the recliner. She didn't like that and 99% of the time, uses her scratching post now. If I'm in the room and she even *looks* like she's heading for the furniture, I redirect her attention or just simply put my hand over the area she's going for and she'll head to the post. Works like a charm.
We have the upright post, but Linda's kitties love her post so much, I think we'll try that one next time since our second post now has been used to death. The only question I have, Linda, is - are they able to stand and stretch their backs with that post? Thanks, hon :)
Thank you for the nice compliment on my kitties....and thank you for designating mine as best answer, I appreciate that I could be of some help.
My cats don`t react to catnip somehow ... They`re not even showing any interest for catnip at all!
But, we`ll go and buy scratchers before we move in to the new apartment - for sure! I`m thinking of getting them used to scratchers before we move all the furniture into the apartment, hope that will do the trick!
Thanks! ;) Your cats are gorgeous btw! :)
Yeah, I`ve thought of that. But if they are given a choice between a scratching post and my couch - they go for the couch no matter what I do! As soon as I`m not looking - they start attacking my poor couch! :) They aren`t that young and are already experienced naughty cats! :) It seems to me - almost impossible to teach them something new!
Give them something acceptable to scratch, like a scratching post or cat house and teach them that it is the only acceptable place to scratch inside of the house.
