Growly Kitty

i have a cat who last week(jan17) around 3-330 started meowing and growling at seemingly nothing. When he tried to sit down on the hard surface of the desk he started to meow and growl some more. i checked him the next day and he wasnt meowing or growling and seemed to be perfectly fine. He has been fine all week with the exception of yesterday and today. He started acting the same way growling and meowing at nothing but this time i caught it happening right after he was walking out from where his litterbox is. I tried feeling his sides etc to see if anything was painful and again when he tried to sit on the floor with his butt he started getting more owly. Could this be a bladder infection maybe?

Sounds like the cat is in pain.  Definitely check the litter box and see if the cat has urinated and pooped.  Identify when the last time the cat did both.  Call the vet right away and explain the situation and see if they will give you any suggestions.  It doesn't sound good and time may or may not be on your side.  At least call the vet to see what they suggest.  Try and make an appt to bring the cat in as soon as you can, if that is what they suggest.  If they are unwilling to help, call a different vet.  Good luck

After reading your post, my first thought was that this could be a urinary blockage or he might be constipated.  If this is a urinary blockage, this is an emergency. A cat can't go more than a day without urinating. The bladder could burst!  Constipation could be serious, too.  That can wait a day or so, depending on how long it's been going on.

I would go right now and check out the litter box.  See if there is any urine in there(hopefully he is your only cat).  I would also follow him around to see if he tries to pee in odd places or after much straining only goes a few drops.  IF there's any small chance that he hasn't been able to urinate, he needs to go to the vet now.

Good luck!
