Miss Kessie - today
Miss Kessie is laying on the floor beside me as I type; took the accompanying photo a few minutes ago.
Poor sweetheart, she's less than half the size she used to be, but still seems to want to be here.

And more importantly, Kessie brought a smile to our hearts as well as laughter to our lips.
I'm so sorry that you have had to part with dear Kessie. You are blessed with knowing you made her happy all the years you had her.

I'm Still Here
Please don't mourn for me. I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day, and within your heart I long to stay.
My body is gone, but I'm always near. I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart, as long as you keep me alive in your heart.
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so tired and knew my time on earth would fade
I saw an image of a place that’s trouble and pain free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Animals of every sort as healthy as could be.
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed
and new. No more diabetes or cancer.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I am alright.
That place is truly wonderful,
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we’re never far apart,
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

We got back from the vet a few minutes ago.
Kessie remained patient and stoic to the end. Doc Knilans examined her and said the mass in her belly was definitely larger. Went over our observations of the past week and agreed that Kessie had been saying her goodbyes.
She didn't care to have her leg shaved a little so he could find a vein, but her complaint consisted of one annoyed meow. There was no struggling, no signs that this was a stressful time for her.
Once the injection was made, Kessie slipped away almost immediately.
Our little friend is now free to chew on the grass anytime she likes, to snuggle with Cammie or lay there and watch the birds flying in endless sunshine.
Until we meet again.
Before hand, we did spend about 1/2 hour outside in the yard. She chewed a little grass, but mostly just lay in the warmth. We could see she was having difficulty being comfortable. A least worst outcome.

I am so saddened to read this Pip. My heart is breaking for all of you. You were all blessed to have each other. Kessie will live forever in your heart~

I'm so sad to read this. My heart goes out to you and Anita during this rough time. You both went above and beyond to do what's best for Kessie. And, she knows that. She couldn't have wished for better parents than the two of you.

I was wondering why in hell had I wake up this morning with a bad feeling.
Blamed the fact I couldnt see and play with baby Violeta and also my hormones.
Now I Know is more than that :-(

Anita is going to see if Miss Kessie wants a little more time out on the lawn before I get home, but she is moving very slow now...was even napping in the cat carrier.
She's looked at food and water, but has not partaken.

Stardust and I are sitting here reading this. She is patting the computer, almost as if to say "It's ok." I am so sorry to be reading this. I know how much you love your cats. Poor little Kessie.

After I get home from work this afternoon Anita and I will make the sad trip to the vet for Kessie's Final Visit.
She didn't eat much yesterday, but did enjoy the time spent outside.
We did give her 100 cc of subQ fluids, which seemed to help comfort her.
Overnight, she vomited up what little she did eat, and hasn't used the box since yesterday morning.
This morning, she didn't even lick at the people tuna I added to her kitty fish.
Thank you all again so very much, I've told both Anita and Kessie of your love and support. It IS a great help.

She's getting wobbly when she walks, a wind gust almost knocked her over and she needed my help to jump up to a favorite perch...

If there were any justice in the universe Kessie would not be sick like this, but some deserving evil person would be. But, there is no justice save what we make by being the best people we can, and by caring for those we love.

This morning, she wasn't even laying atop her favorite chair, but on the floor in front of the kitchen sink.
She reacted slowly to me getting kitty breakfast together and had not appetite for her favorite kitty fish, so I popped open another, which she did eat.
She seems to be having a little difficulty eating and swallowing now, but is game and the sounds she makes when you touch her or talk to her are not pain sounds.
She's starting to make "kehfk" noises in her sleep.
That last night I sat up with my dad...he was sleeping, smiling, looking very peaceful and he was softly singing to himself.
So maybe Kessie is doing the equivalent of singing her passage.
