My Cat Isn't Eating

He isn't eating, drinking, got a dry nose (which I heard is a sign of dehydration,) drooling a lot, I mean his fur near his mouth has been wet for two days because of it and he's shaking. I told my step dad to take him to the vets today but he ignored him and is going to take him tomorrow morning instead. Any ideas what could be wrong with him? I'm scared he isn't going to make it through the night as tomorrow will be his third day of not drinking anything. He has eaten the tiniest piece of chicken which he probably threw up somewhere. He's the only pet I've had apart from fish and hamsters and would be really upset if he died (I was told I couldn't have a cat or dog due to brother's illness) Any ideas what is wrong with him?

One of our cats chewed his tail constantly when he was a baby. When he got neutered he tried to chew off his stitches, so we put him in an e-collar and that broke him of the habit. He could eat and drink with it on.

I know! Yeah he is and has to have an injection which we have to do at home tomorrow. No but when I found out what was wrong with him I'd have thought that they'd have put him one on but they haven't

Gooodd good, is he on Anti biotics? and wearing a head thing so he cant get at his tail.. My cat only has half a tail because he caught it and came home with just the top of his tail being bone.... and he chewed his stitches and every time he chewed them off and chewed his tail and then had to have more and more cut off bless him

Glad he is okay

He's back from the vets and has an infection in his tail (from fighting) and has ulcers in his mouth from cleaning his infected tail.

Oh and the pic was taken when we first got him. He came off the streets and was really skinny so that's why he looks unhealthy but he's not like that anymore :)

Thanks to everyone that answered :)

First thing in the morning you should take him in.  If you need to go to work, perhaps you could take him in before you go to work and pick him up later.  He really needs to go.

There is no other way around this. Kitty must see a vet ASAP. That happened to my cat where he stopped eating. His liver got damaged and trust me, you don't want that.

Good Luck.

Might be cat flu!
My new born kittens had this problem and if we took them in one day later she would have died... They were going to put her down. But she responded......

YOU NEED TO GO TO A VET NOW!!!!

My thoughts exactly!  I just looked at his pic and honey, he doesn't look good at all.  The problem could be any number of things and really impossible to say.  Please impress on your step dad that time is of the essence for this kitty.
