My cat had one of his back claws ripped out.I think it’s starting to get infected.

I  noticed my cat had one of his back claws ripped out and I think it’s starting to get infected. I don’t have the means too be able to take him too the vet so if anyone can help with some at home care my family and I will appreciate it.He still eats and drinks fine. And is going too the bathroom normal. He can walk and jump up on things fine too but doesn’t like too put  pressure on it if he doesn’t have too. I haven’t been able too see if the whole claw is gone either because it’s too painful for me too touch the pawn.

Have you been able to look at the foot yet? Is it swollen?

I’ve looked and it’s not swelling.
That's good news! Another trick besides soaking the foot in salt water, is if you suspect infection, white vinegar in water is pretty good at killing bacteria. But my guess is that it would probably sting. The salt in the water keeps it from feeling like acid on a cut, since blood is salty too.

If infection becomes bad, the cat may lose its leg.  Best to find some help for the poor thing.

Bundle him tightly in a towel with his foot out, and soak the foot in warm salt water. (Prep the bowl of salt water first, and have it ready.) Do this for 5 or 10 minutes, and then again in about 12 hours.

The water shouldn't be saltier than seawater or blood, just slightly salty.
Awesome thank you!
