New pictures of Teia & the boys
Miss Teia had a bad couple of days, was not sure if she was saying "it's time" on Saturday. Before I went to work, she was straining to relieve herself again, vomited, then hid under the couch, which is not usual behavior. Was neither eating, nor drinking.
We decided to watch her close, figured one day without eating would do no harm, would have brought her to the vet yesterday if it had persisted.
After I got home from work, she retreated upstairs to the shower stall. I put down a towel for her to lay on, left food and water. Yesterday morning she showed interest in eating a little and finally ate around Noon. Came down an hour or so later.
I stopped at the grocery to get a roasted chicken on the way home from having been out to breakfast with friends yesterday. Minced some breast meat for her, that sparked her interest.
Over the course of yesterday and today, she has perked up and seems back to her old, old self. She's gone through 1/2 can of kitty tuna and 1 1/2 jars of baby meat (chicken), plus a little of the steak I grilled for lunch so far today.
I think we can expect more of these super senior days from her as things go on. We'll just care for her, watch her, and let her go when she is ready, hopefully not for awhile yet.

She seems back to her old self, had to share the corned beef hash (no onions) that Anita made for supper. Mushed up a heaping tablespoon full for her, had a nice long drink of water after.
Miss Teia came upstairs to the master bath for the 1st time in almost a year this morning. It used to be a daily routine that she'd come and lick water droplets off the tiles after my wife showered to get ready for work in the morning.
Miss Teia had a pretty fine day yesterday, eating and excreting.
When I got home from work about 6 PM, she wanted to do a front yard patrol for the first time in months. She stayed out about 10 minutes, inspecting her bushes and chewing on grass.
An hour later, Buff was crying at the back door, so I went out with him. He was just at the base of the stairs going down to the yard (15 steps from deck to grass), so I just leaned on the rail to watch him.
I looked over to the patio door, and guess who is there? Yep, Missy T wanting out. She trotted down the stairs to the grass and commenced grazing. In the meantime Buff had moved off so I went down to chaperone.
We stayed out until I had a little trouble seeing kitties in the twilight. As usual, I had to carry Buff up. Miss Teia trotted up the stairs and to the door with no trouble.
And of course, a little later, they both went "Keck, keck, Voila!" and expelled the grass along with food they'd eaten. Luckily, on the hardwood floor, not the carpet.

I'm happy to read Teia is back to herself after that little scare. The reality is like you said...more senior moments. I will be honest, I felt upset just reading Teia had had a few bad days. I knew it was 'time' for Jade when she could no longer hold down her food.

Pip...happy to hear Teia is feeling well enough to regain some old habits. I wonder what was going on in her pretty little head that made her stop?

It might be because she and the boys decided to divide the house. They stay mostly upstairs and she has the downstairs, especially the family room, which is where her puppy pads are..
I knew all that, I just temporarily forgot. lol

It might be because Teia is more comfortable with the boys now...as your photos obviously show. It was nice seeing her get back to her roots...um, shower, that is.
I was looking at some older photos of yours. I can't believe you've had Buff and Cooper so long now, much less Teia, as I can still clearly remember when she was too frightened to come out from under your bed.

It might seem a little to thing to many, but for the first time ever, I saw Miss Teia do the "butt sniff" thing to Mr Buff without hissing.
For those unfamiliar, Miss Teia is a 19 year old former feral who we adopted at age 11. Her previous people rescued her from the street at about 1 year old from a neighborhood kid that had caught her and was hurting her. They got her fully vetted and then gave her a safe haven in their house, but never socialized her.
Teia was still semi-feral when we took her into our family, did not much like people, hated other cats. They had other cats, one of which would pick on her, so they gave her her own room, food, water, clean litter box, but no human touch.
I feel sad they did not get to know the sweet, loving little bit of spirit we've been able to draw out.

Cool pics, thanks. I guess I have (against my better judgement) adopted a feral Manx. Caught occasional glimpses of her on my property, and felt sorry for her. Put out some food before I even knew what it was. (Had never seen a Manx before, almost looked like a rabbit running). Finally saw that it was a cat, and it took about 3 months from first feeding to finally be able to touch her. Once I did, she was hooked on the attention. Eventually found out that since she had one clipped ear, she has apparently been spayed and given shots by a rescue, then re-released. I've yet to take her for boosters, but guess that she is under 2YO.
Put a break away flea collar on her, and she will let me put a harness on when I finally take her to the vet.
Won't let her inside as I have a 22YO Tabby, but she has free access to my Florida room type porch for shelter and chow. Still skiddish, but loves to cuddle.

You raised a big smile here with your story. I support several small rescues that work with ferals doing Trap-Neuter-Assess (they have placed a lot of kittens and friendly older cats).
