Cat bite?

I was feeding a kitty from my hand and he was really hungry (don't know what I was thinking) and he accidentally bit my finger thinking it was food; really hard. It made a bruise on my nail and peirced a hole (didn't bleed at first) on the other side. I was painful at first and I couldn't feel my finger but now it's only a little tender. It's not red and it's not very swollen if at all, only a little on the side he pierced through.  Though it has been bleeding a little on my bandaide. I washed it, tried colloidal silver and put on antiseptic and it just seems a bit sore. I'll be fine right? I know they won't accept me in the ER unless I was in major pain and there was significant redness and swelling. The cat doesn't have rabies and I feel perfectly fine. I'll be good right? Any tips?

Hi LD,

Totally agree with ZQ....but I would try and call your doctor and ask for an antibiotic. Let him know it is for a cat bite. Can't hurt and with a cat bite can only help.

I volunteered at a rescue and was bitten so many times--never took a chance always got an antibiotic. Problem is a cat bite is a "puncture wound" so it goes deep and can fester deep with in the skin before you see redness.

Just sayin!

Keep a super close eye on your finger.  An infection can develop quick!  Trust me, I've had one.  I had to be put on 2 antibiotics.

If you start seeing more redness, get yourself to the ER.  They can NOT turn you away.  Cat bites are very very likely to become infected-more so than dog bites.
