Hey all!!!
Exciting morning.
I usually get up between 04:00 and 04:30 Mon - Fri (need to be in to work NLT 06:00).
Anita slept on the floor with Teia last night, which I discovered after I got up.
I got up without the alarm. but Teia must have heard me stirring. When I turned on the bedside lamp, she was sitting just outside her doorway looking into the master bedroom. (Dad, food o'clock?) I got up, and went to pet her. Instead of retreating to beside her food dish as usual, she ventured into the master bedroom and explored a little, even eating a bit of kibble from the feeder therein (we have 4 feeder that we fill when we are going to be gone for a few or more days).
Before I could get the camera, she had gone back to her food bowl.
So, being to dutiful dad-cat that I am, went down to the kitchen to get morning noms ready (and get the camera from the home office area, just in case).
By the time I got back to the bedrooms, Miss Teia was out of her room again, investigating the scratching pad against the wall opposite "her door." Got a couple of shots (one appended) before breakfast seemed more important. She did eat in the new spot, fully outside her room.
The Big Leap...I had just finished my shower, opened the door to get my towel and lo and behold, guess who is sitting, waiting to be petted, on the bath mat, a good 20 feet from her safe zone!? Miss Teia not only came from her room, without Anita or I to prompt her, but she walked past where Hildiekatt was laying.
I dried my hands and stroked her head and nack for a couple of minutes before stepping out.
Teia stuck around for 2 - 3 minutes, before going a=back to her plate to finish breakfast.
Then Chesapeake (the Nemesis) came down the hall: hiss, hiss, back under the nightstand.
((Meanwhile, Anita is still sleeping on the floor ;-))
Chessie has been getting much better the past few weeks; likes to lay just outside Teia's door, or just inside where Teia can see her from the other side of the bed.
Chessie is one of the smarter kitties we've had. I think she knows that a direct approach to Teia will not work, and has thusly modified her method for meeting this "new" kittie in the house.
All in all, an amazing day...Teia has come SO VERY FAR in the 2 years she has been with Anita, the kitties (Kessie, Hildie, Chessie and I).
Hope this gives y'all a smile when so much of our kitty discussions center on "how can I help my little friend?"
