Signs of illness and pain?

Our 11 year old snowshoe cat has been strange the last few days. Increasingly sluggish and just sleeping - I havent seen him eat or drink anything. His normally soft coat is greasy. His breathing is labored and flinches away from most touch. He has a history of ear wax build up(or so we were told, my grandmother always thought it was mites) He sleeps in a straight line, all limbs tucked under and his tail tucked completely under his body.

He has been healthy, weighs about 15lbs. Any answers as to what may be wrong would be greatly appreciated.

From what you've described, I am very concerned about your cat.  The labored breathing is a huge concern of mine.  If this were my cat, I would be taking him to an emergency vet right now.  Also the position your cat is in tells me that he is uncomfortable.

Get him to the vet asap. This sounds life threatening to me.

After reading your initial post, I agree with zodiacqueen 's comments.
The fact that you haven't seen your cat eat or drink in a few days is
also very concerning. You also mention that your kitty has labored
breathing and flinches away from most touch. This indicates to me
that your kitty probably is in pain, very uncomfortable and doesn't want
to be touched. Personally, I wouldn't wait till Monday. These symptoms
sound very concerning and I would take your kitty to your vet asap or
if you have access to an emergency vet that might be even better.
I wish you and your kitty well.  Eve

We were planning on taking him Monday if he didn't improve - but I'll take him first thing in the morning as soon as I am able!

Thank you for your fast and caring response
