Are my kittens too old to neuter?

I have two male kittens. I found them in our wood pile last summer, which would make them about 7 months old. I bottle fed them for over two months and now they look no worse for wear. I've held off neutering due to financial difficulty. Is the surgery more painfull at 7-8 months than it I had them neutered earlier?

females should be neutered about 6 months (before heat cycle) and the males from about 6 - 8 months (before spraying begins) so I would say you are right on track.
I have done this for quite a few strays in my neighborhood and I always get a spay/neuter coupon from the Humane Society who offer discounts for strays....$55. for females and $50. for the males.
Good luck to you and the boys : )

no, not really (not that we can ask!) That's actually about a good age to do it, right (hopefully) before they start becoming sexually active.
