Some foods to substitute for that Kitty Crack!!!

Kitty Crack--that stuff our cats are hooked on with ALL the bad ingredients--DRY FOOD bad for them but it is their Junk Food.

I could buy a new car for the money I spent on finding the right food for a cat with allergies, Herpes virus, Asthma, and a "Superiority Complex"

Let me help you--I have done the reseach, believe me.All the foods I mention will be poultry, grain, gluten free, because the princess is allergic to those things, UGH!

Wet Food: Best for your cat----   all grain free-- Weruva, Go! (by petcurean), Core, and
Natural Balance Duck, and Venison! The Weruva is all in a yummy gravy!

Dry Food--IF YOU MUST--Felidae, Fromme,Simply Nourish ( Company by the same name out of Arizona)

LYSINE: For cats with immune problems--These two are good enough for my cat to think they are her TREATS
Optixcare Lysine Chews by Aventix or, Vetri-Lysine Pluse by Vetri Science Labs--get them off the internet Vet depot.

So hope this helps-- these are all higher priced than Friskies, etc--but they actually are flavorful enough for your Kit to think they are still on CRACK.

Good Luck!
CM

MYoungAtHeart,

LOL! Just like an "addict" shooting up when she thinks no one is looking,eh!

Aren't they amazingly smart little characters.

The companies I listed for the Lysine have some treats she may like that will be healthy for her.

Happy 2014!!!

wonderful post....I do have a small bag of kitty crack put up for when MewMew was sick and would not touch anything else.  The vet told me that whatever got her to eat would be a good thing so it was good in an emergency.

I did notice in the past 2 weeks that a little hole has been chewed in the bottom of the small kitty crack bag and I set up my chair to keep an eye on the bag and about 1 time a day, she actually bumps against the bag to make 4 or 5 nuggets fall on the floor, looks around and then eats the nuggets off the floor....It seems to be a small treat that she reserves for herself, thinking no one is watching, and I have not moved the bag away from her at all...

But your list has me looking up different healthy treats she might help herself to instead of the high grain, high calorie snacks she is helping herself to now...

Again, thank you very much

Your the best Opus, but My cat will not allow medicines cross her mouth. It has to be camouflaged  These two are expensive but they are the best I found with little fillers that taste good enough for her to think they are her treats. She doesn't even fall for the Pill pockets trick. For a little 8 ib. cat with no teeth, she is the best squirmer there is.

Thanks for the additional food suggestions. I think Evo had some chicken liver in it though when I read the ingredients.

I will check out Tiki and Natures Variety though. At least yours are Himalayan pure breeds. This little chippy is your run of the mill DSH found in a Trailer park It's like she married a rich guy and has adjusted to life in the fast lane. Ya know I would much rather all animals find a loving home and be spoiled.

CM what a great post!!!!!
good for you for doing all the research, I was forced to as well when Sami 's skin began to break out....we did some eliminations and found out chicken was also the culprit. this is a common allergy, b/c cats can become allergic to anything they are exposed too often and as you too will have found out chicken is in almost all the cat foods.....they put a chicken 'base' in even some fish diets. so one has to red the labels very carefully.
GRAINS are also a huge culprit, I sure agree!!!!

I will also add some to your lists

GOOD FOODS. Natures Variety. Tiki, and EVO for a few

DRY Foods if you must....there are a few 'grain' free ones but from the reading I have done one of the good ones is EVO by Innova.

and L-lysine is just super for their immune system!!!!!
I will say tho to buy it in the human form and not the Veterinary variety. Its MUCH cheaper and you get it in the pure form not mixed with alot of fillers..I will give you the source I buy from and the Brand is VERY important...this one is sugar/salt/starch/soy/ wheat and preservative FREE..therefor is the safest on the market for cats! 1/2 a scoop gives 500mg of pure L-lysine
