Sore on cat's tail?

Hello, I have a 3 1/2 year old male cat. He has never been outside, and he is very healthy, up to date on all shots and he's fixed. Yesterday, I noticed he has a sore on his tail. About the middle of the tail and it kind of looks like a HUGE pimple, but it's red, and if I touch it it bleeds... What should I do?

Carole, were you able to get kitty to the vet?  How's he doing?

Thanks, Nicoal.  It's nice to have a member who's been a vet tech : )

Could be an abscess.  A quick vet visit and antibiotics would help.
Hope he feels better soon:)

Hi Carol and welcome.  It just so happens, my neighbors cat was found with a similar injury at the middle of the tail.  Kitty was indoor only and how she got hurt was anyone's guess.  This *sounds* like an injury that's caused a hematoma which would need to be treated by your vet.  Sadly, my neighbors cat was never treated and the end of the tail eventually fell off, but not before both infection and lots of pain, I'm sure.

Please let us know how he is after the vet! : )
