what i would do is take her to the vet because she could have a very bad diease. we dont want a kitty dying. OR take her to the humane society to see what the vet there thinks...if it is too bad they can put it to sleep.
I feel as Jade does....this kitten senses that you would be a wonderful caregiver for her...must be some kind of innate intuition she has about you. What if something happened to her and her owner kicked her out...literally. I think your best chance of a happy ending for her is staying on the waiting list for the no-kill shelter, check on your status on their list often :)
Hi JoyRenee, I know how PK feels. I'm anxious someone will take this little cutie in or you hear from the shelter soon at the very least. I don't like your description of her hips and poo so little girl definitely needs some medical attention. Kitty is crying at you 'cause she senses she's found a good person who will help.
Best of luck with this!!!!!!
Oh My God my heart races as I read your words Joy. I'm getting just as desperate as that poor cat. I hate to hear about, or see animals wanting a home so much. It's so sad. Even worse when we can't do much for them. I've been there and it isn't easy.
And yes mucousy poop usually means giardia, especially if it comes with vomiting. Poor kitty. Keep Beckett and the dog away from her. And keep trying to find her a good home. She is definitely very adoptable and would make a great pet.
Poor kitty....
Oh- and does anyone know what her poop could mean? Does mucousy, creamy colored poop usually mean worms? Her hips definitely look weird and so does her bottom (I checked her to see her gender and her bottom looks really strange; perhaps another cat tried to mate her?! It just looks red and slightly swollen).
babycat- thank you! Sounds like such a similar story!!! Our dog uses her crate every night so I can't put her in there. My husband is not mean to animals but he doesn't like them so I know he won't let me spend the money to take her to a vet. And we just spent close to $500 getting our dog. So I'm HOPING this no-kill shelter will get back with me. In the meantime I have a friend who can give me this medicine that kills the fleas within 24 hours and will just have to continue to harass my husband about finding her a home.
I just contacted a local no-kill shelter on her to put her on a waiting list to get in there though I'm hoping someone I know will step up and take her. There are MANY strays around here, some nicer than others. So she *might* be stray but we'll definitely see if an owner can be found. My cat and dog are not a problem; I just don't want to bring her in just in case she has something contagious.
No garage, either, or I'd definitely keep her there. Where I live most homes do not have garages because the houses are from the 1800's and early 1900's and they were built so close together there's no place to build a garage.
She is just gorgeous! My husband says a very resounding NO to letting her in, too. We just adopted our dog from the same no-kill shelter I just contacted. I mean we literally adopted her just a few weeks ago so he's pretty much content with the pets we have. Our Siamese cat was also a stray (some people here might remember him; we kept him!). We found him at our backdoor with a broken leg, horribly malnourished, but sweet as pie. Now he's fat and happy but also stressed about the new canine addition.
Okay I'm super rambly tonight!
I had the same thing happen to me over the winter. I had a white cat show up at my door and darted in everytime we opened it. Concerned with getting my three dogs, cat and other animals plus my family sick, I found my dog crate and put her in there with a litter box and food and water. I made an appointment with the vet to get her checked out. She was really skinny and walked weird also. She was healthy by what the vet tested and seen. So I tried to find her a good home. On FB, but no one wanted her. Needless to say, it has been a few months now and she has called our house a home. She gets along well with my cat and dogs. I would really take her to the vet if you are able to afford it, if not look up the cat rescue in your area. They will usually come get the cat and take it for medical needs. Good luck.
I posted before I read your second post. She does obviously need to be seen by a Vet if there is a problem with her hips. I still think she belongs to someone, just by the way she is acting. I bet she is missing her owner. Can you check bulletin boards or newspapers or local vets to see if someone is missing theyr little kitty.
Well, she certainly is a cutie! Aren't they all? I love her eyes...they're so expressive :) Is your cat an older cat and does your dog like cats? You sound like you want to keep her...do you have any idea where she came from? Sounds like she is somebody's house cat. Can you keep her either in a crate or garage or someplace safe for her until you can get her checked out by the Vet and possibly try to locate her owner. Fleas can be treated pretty easily. If you are thinking of keeping her your main issue will be how well she gets along with you family...both human and animal. ♥
BTW- she is just sitting in the window crying at me. I did give her some cat food (Cat Chow; it's all I have). She also seems to be walking weird as though her back hips aren't right.
I don't want to call animal control and I put out a message to my friends on FB to see if anyone wanted to take her. No takers yet.
