sores on the heels of manx that hops and shaking in legs

When is enough enough.  My little maui(manx syndrome baby) is 8 months old.  He wears diapers everyday and that works but he is getting sores on his heels due to the hopping not on the pads of his feet.  I have kept dry gauze wrapped in streth non stick tape.  He finds a way to rip it off and they are not building a callus.  Bleeding most days.  I notice his back legs shake alot of the time. Worried he will also at some point start to get UTI's since he dribbles and has bowel movements during the day till I get home.  Any ideas on how to help him?  deb

Maui is starting to build callouses on the heels of his feet, it is a slow process but I stay on it trying to keep them clean and dry.  I do however worry about the wearing of diapers constantly.  His urethra is red and swollen.  I may invest in a outside caged off area for him to sit free without a diaper which he loves so very much.  Thanks for the response...deb

Unfortunately a kitty with this syndrome sometimes do not do very well. Its common for them to have severe infections and even full or partial loss of limb use even up to paralysis. This is a life long progressive syndrome. I feel bad for the kitty. I am sure that you are doing all that you can but you may need to look at quality of life and suffering issues. Keep us posted. Im sorry your kitty is dealing with this. Be prepared for life long issues as these cats need lots of care and Vet care.
